Kennebec County, Maine – June 19, 2012
An unknown number of vehicles collided at the intersection of Belgrade Road and York Hill Road Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office, rescue personnel were dispatched to the scene of a wreck near Christy’s Country Store around 1 p.m. It is unknown how many victims were involved or the extent of their injuries.
It is unclear what damages the vehicles sustained during the crash.
Officers are conducting an ongoing investigation to determine the cause of this incident.
The National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that driver error was the primary cause in 90 percent of major traffic crashes.
