Police say a female traveler was injured in a collision in the Wilton area on Thursday.

According to the Wilton Police Department, 31-year-old Temple resident Regina Stefanelli was operating a 2005 Toyota Corolla along Maine State Route 43. Investigators say Ms. Stefanelli lost traction on the icy roadway around 7:25 and veered off the roadway.

Her eastbound Corolla flipped and smashed into a stand of trees. Paramedics treated her at the scene.

The Maine Bureau of Highway Safety listed speed as a factor in 86 fatal crashes in 2007.
