A man died after a motorcycle crash on Route 59 near Baldwin City Monday night.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol,  61-year-old Randall Lusk was riding a motorcycle west on Route 59 when for unknown reasons, he left the roadway and crashed in the median.

Mr. Lusk was taken to Overland Park Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, per vehicle mile traveled in 2007, motorcyclists were about 37 times more likely than passenger car occupants to die in a motor vehicle traffic crash and 9 times more likely to be injured.
