Three people were injured after a head-on crash on Mulberry Road near 120th Road by Minneapolis Saturday afternoon.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, around 3 p.m., 41-year-old Janelle Woodruff was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee east on Mulberry Road when she passed a field fire and was unable to see the roadway before crossing the center line and hitting a westbound Ford 150 pickup driven by 41-year-old Jeffrey Schmidtline.

Mr. Schmidtline, Ms. Woodruff and her passenger, 19-year-old Heather Woodruff were taken to Salina Regional Health Center with undisclosed injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, head-on crashes were only 2 percent of all crashes in 2005, but accounted for 10 percent of U.S. fatal crashes.
