Police say a man died after a vehicle crash near Interstate 235 and Kellogg Tuesday morning.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, before 5:30 a.m., a 36-year-old man was driving west on Kellogg when for unknown reasons he left the roadway before hitting a guardrail and landing in a ditch.

Rescue personnel arrived on scene to find the unidentified man had been killed on impact.

It is unclear what sequence of events caused this crash and remains under investigation.

The identity of the driver has not been released.

According to the National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, driver error is responsible for more than 90 percent of serious traffic accidents.

UPDATE: The man who was killed in this crash has been identified as 37-year-old Brian Badders.
