Police reported speed and alcohol played a part in a crash that killed two men Tuesday morning on Kellogg Avenue and Webb Road.

According to the Wichita Police Department, around 3 a.m., 37-year-old Alban Vanzandt was speeding near Kellogg and Webb when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed. Mr. Vanzandt had two passengers in his vehicle at the time of the crash.

Investigators say, 50-year-old Frederico Martinez and 34-year-old Higinio Gonzalez III were killed on impact.

Mr. Vanzandt has been charged with vehicular homicide and was booked in Sedwick County Jail.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 10,000 people died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes in 2010—one every 51 minutes.
