Police say a passenger was injured Thursday when three vehicles collided in the Marion area.

According to officers with the Marion Police Department, 47-year-old Marion resident Gary E. Pitser Jr. was behind the wheel of a vehicle as it traveled near the corner of Baldwin Avenue (Indiana 18) and Second Street (Indiana 9). Around 11:25 p.m., Mr. Pitser made contact with a vehicle driven by 66-year-old Union City, Ohio resident Alfred J. Dircksen.

A third vehicle, driven by 18-year-old Marion resident Kristin L. McAfee was also involved in the crash. Paramedics responded to the scene and treated 44-year-old Marion resident Jake L. Jackson, a passenger in Ms. McAfee’s vehicle, for shoulder injuries.

According to the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute, property damage or injury resulted in 188,132 accidents in Indiana in 2010.
