Allen County, Indiana — January 31, 2013

Multiple semis were involved in an early morning crash Thursday on northbound Interstate 69 in Fort Wayne.

The Fort Wayne Police Department reports the accident occurred sometime before 3 a.m. near mile post 314. The collision reportedly caused one semi to turn around and face south, but additional details were not immediately available.

It is unclear if anyone was injured in the wreck.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reports that more than 500,000 semis and large commercial vehicles were involved in traffic crashes in 2010. Those accidents resulted in injuries to more than 100,000 people and more than 5,000 deaths.
