Marion County, Indiana — October 15, 2012

One person was injured Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash at Allisonville Road and 91st Street in Indianapolis.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department reports the accident occurred around 8:20 a.m. when a Jeep, driven by 53-year-old Fishers resident Lisa Allen, crashed with a Hyundai driven by 25-year-old April Knopf of Indianapolis.

The report says Ms. Knopf told officers she turned left toward 91st Street on a yellow light and pulled into the path of the other vehicle, which Ms. Allen said had a green light. The Jeep reportedly then struck the Hyundai.

Ms. Knopf reportedly complained of back pain following the injury. No other injuries were reported.

According to a report from the Indiana State Police, there were 188,132 traffic accidents resulting in injuries and/or property damage in 2011, and 674 accidents resulted in 749 total fatalities during that year.
