Lynn, Indiana — January 25, 2012

An accident involving a passenger vehicle and a semi resulted in serious injuries on Wednesday morning. The names of those involved in this accident were not released, but the crash occurred on U.S. Route 27 just north of Lynn. The Indiana State Police were on scene.

The accident was said to be between a passenger vehicle and a semi, and it resulted in the closure of U.S. 27 for almost two and a half hours. It was stated that two men from nearby Winchester were seriously injured, but no further details were released.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reports that more than 500,000 semis and large commercial vehicles were involved in traffic crashes in 2010. Those accidents resulted in injuries to more than 100,000 people and more than 5,000 deaths.
