Mishawaka, Indiana — December 30, 2011

Slowed traffic was a factor in an accident near the intersection of Edison lakes Parkway and Grape Road on Friday. Siyhang Lee, 31, was driving northbound on Grape Road at 3:57 p.m. when she proceeded through the intersection with Edison Lakes Parkway.

Ms. Lee failed to realize traffic had not cleared the intersection, as it was backed up from the Douglas Road intersection. Ms. Lee’s 2000 Mitsubishi Gallant struck a 1996 Honda Accord driven by Nicholas Jackmovich, 17, which in turn struck the rear of a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country driven by Angela Davidson, 42.

Ms. Davidson complained of back pain, which was the only injury reported. The Mishawaka Police Department published a report.

According to the National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, driver error is responsible for more than 90 percent of serious traffic accidents.
