Evansville, Indiana — December 31, 2011

The Evansville Police Department investigated an accident with injury that occurred at 12:25 a.m. at the intersection of S. Green River Road and Old Green River Road. Keenan Lewis, 20, was traveling southbound on S. Green River Road when he failed to observe the stop sign at the intersection with Old Green River Road.

Mr. Lewis entered the intersection, where he was struck on the passenger side of his 1996 Chevrolet Blazer by the 1997 Ford F-150 driven by Shaun Gibson, 32.

Both drivers complained of pain, as well as Lynn Willett, 30, Artius Brown, 22, and Travis Anderson, 21, who were passengers in Mr. Lewis’ vehicle. Ariel Pace, 20, also complained of pain as a passenger in Mr. Gibson’s vehicle.

According to the National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, driver error is responsible for more than 90 percent of serious traffic accidents.
