Evansville, Indiana — December 31, 2011

The Evansville Police Department reported an accident with injury that occurred at the intersection of Kentucky Avenue and Taylor Avenue at 5:36 p.m. The police ruled that Melissa Maxwell, 54, failed to yield the right of way to Alicia Majors, 22.

Ms. Maxwell stopped at the stop sign on eastbound Taylor Avenue before entering the intersection. Ms. Majors was headed southbound on Kentucky Avenue with the right of way when her 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix struck the 2003 Honda CRV of Ms. Maxwell.

Both drivers complained of pain and Ms. Majors was also treated for a laceration on her hand.

According to the National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, driver error is responsible for more than 90 percent of serious traffic accidents.
