Fort Wayne, Indiana — December 31, 2011

The Fort Wayne Police Department filed a report of an accident with injury that occurred at 2:22 a.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Hobson Road and Vance Avenue. Kara Bergeman, 33, was driving a 2008 gray Saturn Vue westbound on Vance Avenue when she failed to regard a flashing red light.

As Ms. Bergeman tried to stop her vehicle she hit a 2001 Ford driven by Kaylee Malone, 21. Ms. Malone complained of pain in her ankle, neck, head and back. She was taken to Parkview Hospital for treatment.

According to the National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, driver error is responsible for more than 90 percent of serious traffic accidents.
