Chicago, Illinois – January 1, 2012

The Chicago Police Department reports that a local man suffered critical injuries when he was attacked by multiple dogs on Monday morning.

According to reports, the injured man was Joseph Finley. The 62-year-old man had been running through Rainbow Beach Park at about 6 a.m. when two pit bulls fell upon him. An observer said the animals began to bite Mr. Finley’s face, legs, and arms. He was said to be in critical condition after being taken to Stroger Hospital.

Investigators have not located the individual responsible for the pit bulls. The dogs had collars, but there was no identifying information attached.

Authorities are continuing to investigate, and more information about the condition of Mr. Finley will be released as it is made available.
