The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office states that a man was killed Wednesday after being involved in a Jacksonville motor-vehicle accident.
According to reports, the deceased individual was Sean Lyons. He had been traveling on Burlingame Road, and reportedly disregarded a stop sign upon entering the crossing with State Route 125. Officials say this maneuver caused his vehicle to crash with a second car—this one driven by 45-year-old Samuel M. Nicholas. Officials arrived to find that both vehicles had wound up in a nearby ditch after the collision.
Emergency responders transported Mr. Lyons to St. John’s Hospital, but his life could not be saved.
Mr. Nicholas was also hospitalized, though his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
