A woman died after three vehicles collided on Lee Street at Van Buren Street Sunday morning.

According to reports, around 9:30 a.m., 69-year-old Juanita Waters was stopped at an intersection when a Ford vehicle failed to see her and struck her Honda. The impact of the crash caused the Honda to catch fire. According to reports, somehow another unidentified vehicle was involved in the accident as well.

Rescue personnel arrived on scene to find Ms. Waters had been killed on impact.

The accident remains under investigation.

The National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that driver error was the primary cause in 90 percent of major traffic crashes.
