A teenager and her child died after a fiery crash on Interstate 285 Thursday night.

According to reports, 17-year-old Gabriella Faiz was driving on Interstate 285 when her car stopped running on the roadway and two vehicles struck her car. The impact of the crash caused the vehicle to catch fire.

Rescue personnel arrived on scene to find Gabriella and her 2-year-old daughter had died from the impact.

The accident remains under investigation.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency reports an estimated 258,500 highway vehicle fires occurred annually in the United States from 2004 to 2006.
