A man died after a pickup truck hit his motorcycle on Heardsville Road near Alpharetta Friday afternoon.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department, around 4:40 p.m., 19-year-old Cameron Fullerton was riding his Yamaha motorcycle south on Heardsville Road when a Ford F250 pickup driven by 34-year-old Jonathon Sorrells attempted to turn left in front of Mr. Fullerton. The motorcycle crashed into the side of the pickup and Mr. Fullerton was ejected from his bike.

Rescue personnel arrived on scene to find Mr. Fullerton has been killed on impact.

The accident remains under investigation. Mr. Sorrells was arrested at the scene for failing to yield and vehicular homicide.

In 2008, motorcyclists accounted for 14 percent of total traffic fatalities, 17 percent of all occupant fatalities, and 4 percent of all occupants injured according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
