DriveAssist provides employers with tool to curb employee phone usage
Itasca, Illinois — August 27, 2012
A growing partnership between the National Safety Council and Aegis Mobility, Inc. now provides a technological solution for employers who want reinforcement of the cell phone usage policies they have recently put into place.
According to a press release from the NSC, Aegis’ DriveAssist Guardian technology, once installed on a cell phone, detects movement and does not allow use while in motion. Incoming calls and messages are silenced and sent to voicemail or stored while outgoing calls are limited to 911. The program can be customized to adhere to a certain company’s cell phone usage policies as well as local and state-mandated regulations.
In this way, employers can provide their employees with the easiest and most comprehensive way to eliminate temptation while on the road in addition to reducing their liability and risk in the case of an accident. A cell phone usage policy is only as effective as its implementation and continued usage; choosing to use a technology like DriveAssist assures employers that their employees are following the standards put in place to protect themselves and others around them while they travel from Point A to Point B on company time.
The NSC has now rolled out this technology to its tens of thousands of member organizations in an effort to curb the distracted driving epidemic. DriveAssist is also available to private citizens.
