Emmanuel Williams, 17, wakes sleepy driver on unusual Tacoma bus ride
A school bus accident was avoided this week when a student woke up the dozing bus driver, and it was all caught on camera in Tacoma, Washington.
Emmanuel Williams, 17, was riding his Tacoma Public School bus this week when he noticed something about his usual ride wasn’t quite right. The bus picked up the students at Tahoma High School, but the 65-year-old driver didn’t seem quite himself. His eyes weren’t staying open as he drove erratically through the city. As the bus pulled onto Interstate 5 in Tacoma, Washington, Emmanuel saw the head of his 65-year-old bus driver drop. Emmanuel darted to the front of the bus and woke the dozing driver.
Emmanuel woke the sleepy driver, who had a clean record over eight years of driving, and his fast reaction was allegedly caught on the security and surveillance camera on the bus. There were 25 students on the bus who can all thank Emmanuel for quick thinking at the end of a tired day.
