Officials say a motorist died after a two-vehicle collision near Bridgeville Saturday evening.

According to California Highway Patrol, 29-year-old Zachary Glascoe crossed the center line in his 1996 Ford Mustang on California State Route 36 near Golden Gate Drive and collided head-on with a Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by 35-year-old Dustyn Watson.

Mr. Glascoe’s passenger, 28-year-old Jane Goodearle of Arcata, died at the scene from her injuries in the 6:35 p.m. wreck.

Mr. Watson, a resident of Petrolia, was not hurt.

Mr. Glascoe, a resident of Arcata, is charged with driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter.

Officials are conducting an ongoing investigation to determine the cause of this incident.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 10,000 people died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes in 2010—one every 51 minutes.
