Police say two bicyclists were hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle in Paradise Friday morning.

According to the Paradise Police Department, 38-year-old Justin Waller of Chico and Richard Hunter of Folsom were riding a tandem bicycle near the intersection of Skyway Road and Eley Drive when they were struck by a 1991 Chevrolet Lumina driven by 91-year-old Cecilia Juhos of Magalia. Ms. Juhos was attempting to turn left into the Magalia Community Church parking lot at the time of the crash and told authorities she did not see the bicyclists. The impact of the collision caused Mr. Hunter to be thrown into the air and through the windshield of Ms. Juhos’ vehicle.

Mr. Hunter was flown to Enloe Medical Center with serious injuries.

Mr. Waller was transported to Feather River Hospital with a leg injury.

Officers are conducting an ongoing investigation to determine the cause of this incident.

The California Department of Motor Vehicles reports that 110 bicyclists were killed and 12,653 bicyclists were injured statewide in collisions in 2010.
