Alameda County, California — June 13, 2013

Officials say a motorcyclist died after colliding with another vehicle in Castro Valley Wednesday afternoon.

According to California Highway Patrol, 38-year-old Chad Goodwin of Turlock was traveling on his motorcycle near the intersection of Palomares Road and Paloverde Road around 4:45 p.m. when he collided with a truck driven by an unidentified motorist.

Mr. Goodwin died at the scene from his injuries. The truck driver was not hurt.

Officials are conducting an ongoing investigation to determine the cause of this incident.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, per vehicle mile traveled in 2007, motorcyclists were about 37 times more likely than passenger car occupants to die in a motor vehicle traffic crash and 9 times more likely to be injured.

  • Chad’s Older Sister..

I think this is very insensitive to read. Chad is my brother, a friend. He is my mothers son. To completely put the blame on my brother within such a short time of the accident is inaccurate and not investigated. He died at 4:43 pm on June 12, 2013 and this was in the paper on the 13th. How much time did that give anyone to investigate? Chad is a son, brother, father, nephew, cousin, uncle, friend to millions and most of all the greatest man to live. So, yes, I do take great offense to this article. While you are announcing that the other unidentified motorist was not hurt, that same unidentified motorist could call my mother and talk to her and allow us to have some closure, yet, we have been told he has nothing to say to the family and to leave him alone he wants no messages from us. So, please allow us time to grieve before posting it was all the motorcyclist fault in the paper..
