Amador County, California — May 29, 2013

Officials say two workers sustained injuries in a boiler rupture at an Ione power plant Wednesday morning.

According to the Amador County Sheriff’s Office, two unidentified workers were on the job at the Buena Vista Biomass Power facility when a boiler ruptured due to an unknown mechanical failure. It is not clear if the rupture was severe enough to cause the plant to stop operation for any length of time.

One worker was flown to a nearby hospital with unspecified burns. Another worker was treated at the scene. Their identities have not been released.

Officials are conducting an ongoing investigation to determine the cause of this incident.

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, 200 people were killed in the workplace from fires and explosions in 1995 and more than 5,000 were injured.

Interesting. How did the workers get help? I hope that the person or persons involved in getting them out of the dire situation are recognized. If someone was flown to a nearby hospital, I’m pretty sure the injuries were substantial. Where is the rest of this story?
