Officials say six motorists were injured in a two-vehicle collision in San Jacinto Thursday afternoon.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the unidentified driver of a sport-utility vehicle was traveling near the intersection of Sanderson Avenue and Esplanade Avenue around 2:35 p.m. when he rear-ended a vehicle driven by an unidentified motorist.

Six motorists were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Their identities have not been released.

Officials are conducting an ongoing investigation to determine the cause of this incident.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in 2008 more than 2.3 million reported intersection-related crashes, resulted in more than 7,770 fatalities and approximately 733,000 injuries.
