Los Angeles County, California – October 25, 2012

Police say a motorcycle made contact with a vehicle Thursday in the Lancaster area, killing the rider.

According to deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, an unidentified motorist was behind the wheel of a 2011 Dodge vehicle as it traveled along 20th Street West. As the driver approached Avenue K-4, around 7:30 p.m., the driver attempted to join eastbound traffic.

Investigators say the Dodge crossed into the path of 39-year-old Tyson Tisdale, who was riding a 1994 Honda motorcycle north. Paramedics responded to the scene and transported Mr. Tisdale to Antelope Valley Hospital, but doctors were unable to save him.

Witnesses have been asked to call (661) 948-8466 with any additional information. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration there were 4,778 fatalities as a result of collisions involving motorcycles in the United States in 2006.
