Riverside County, California — August 2, 2012

Police say a pedestrian died Thursday after he fell from a moving vehicle in the Riverside area.

According to officers with the Riverside Police Department, an unidentified motorist was operating a stake-bed truck near the corner of Hole Avenue and Magnolia Avenue. Investigators believe the driver was gathering shopping carts when he became involved in an altercation with 32-year-old Ryan Gutierrez.

For unknown reasons, Mr. Gutierrez clung to the vehicle as it drove away, then fell in the intersection around 2:10 a.m. Paramedics transported him to Riverside Community Hospital, but doctors were unable to save him.

The motorist failed to stop and administer aid. Witnesses have been asked to call (951) 826-8723 with any additional information.
