Orange County, California — July 16, 2012
Police say a motorcycle and a sedan made contact Monday in Huntington Beach, killing the rider.
According to officers with the Huntington Beach Police Department, an unidentified female resident of Fountain Valley, 33, was behind the wheel of a Lexus sedan as it traveled near the corner of Brookhurst Street and Hamilton Avenue. Around 4:15 p.m., the Lexus made contact with Huntington Beach resident Christian Dasilva, 40, who was riding west on a 2011 Triumph motorcycle.
Paramedics rushed Mr. Dasilva to Santa Ana’s Western Medical Center, but doctors were unable to save him. Witnesses have been asked to call (714) 536-7939 with any additional information.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration there were 4,778 fatalities as a result of collisions involving motorcycles in the United States in 2006.
