Police say a motorcyclist was injured Monday during a collision in the Oroville area.

According to officers with the Oroville Police Department, 60-year-old Oroville resident Timothy Daurghty was behind the wheel of a Ford F-350 pickup truck as it traveled westbound along Georgia Pacific Way. Meanwhile, Oroville resident Michael Costas, 58, was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound.

Investigators say Mr. Costas crossed the median near Baggett Marysville Road around 12:55 p.m. and made contact with the pickup. Paramedics transported the rider to Chico’s Enloe Medical Center for treatment of a foot injury.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration there were 4,778 fatalities as a result of collisions involving motorcycles in the United States in 2006.
