Fresno County, California — June 11, 2012
Police say a pedestrian died Monday after being hit by a law-enforcement vehicle in the Coalinga area.
According to troopers with the California Highway Patrol, the unidentified pedestrian was walking north along California State Route 145. As he approached Oakland Avenue, around 11:05 p.m., the pedestrian was hit by a patrol car operated by a deputy with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department.
The victim reportedly died on scene. Neither he, nor the cop has been identified by name.

UPDATE: Officials now say the deceased victim was a 25-year-old female from Kerman. The officer has been identified as Kurt Rossi.
UPDATE: The deceased victim has been identified as Kristle Clowers. Investigators say she was walking in the roadway at the time.
