A film shoot went wrong Friday afternoon when a stuntman was hospitalized with critical burns.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, a Mountain Dew commercial was being shot above Dodger Stadium at 3500 Academy Road when an explosive powder misfired. The misfire hit a 28-year-old stuntman swinging from a crane. The man was wearing protective gear, but it malfunctioned in the 2:30 p.m. blast.
The stuntman was hospitalized with severe burns and is listed in critical condition.
According to the California Department of Industrial Relations, the state was home to 14,878 nonfatal occupational injuries and illnesses in 2009.
