Sacramento, California — February 19, 2012
A pedestrian was critically injured Sunday morning when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver at a Sacramento intersection.
According to the Sacramento Police Department, a 45-year-old man was walking across the street in a crosswalk at the intersection of Dias Avenue and Stockton Boulevard when he was struck by a dark-colored sedan. The driver, an Asian male in his late 30s or early 40s, fled the scene leaving the pedestrian behind after the 6:50 a.m. crash.
The pedestrian suffered critical injuries and was hospitalized in critical condition.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports California has the highest rate of fatal hit-and-run crashes in the country.
