Montclair, California – January 17, 2012

Injuries were reported following a fiery collision on Interstate 10 late Tuesday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a semi truck was traveling west on Interstate 10 when it collided with two passenger vehicles.  About 11:10 p.m. the semi crashed into the median divider at Monte Vista Avenue causing the truck to burst into flames.

Injuries were reported as a result of the collision, and an emergency helicopter was called onto the scene.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reports that more than 500,000 semis and large commercial vehicles were involved in traffic crashes in 2010. Those accidents resulted in injuries to more than 100,000 people and more than 5,000 deaths.
