San Diego, California – November 29, 2011

An SUV struck and injured a woman on a bicycle Tuesday evening on College Avenue.

According to the San Diego Police Department, a 23-year-old woman was riding her bicycle south on College Avenue as a 55-year-old man in a Hyundai SUV traveled on the same street. About 5:30 p.m. he attempted to pass the woman as she rode in the bike lane. Near Cresita Drive the SUV struck the bicycle causing the bicycle to hit the curb. The woman fell to the ground.

The rider was hospitalized with major facial injuries.
