Santa Barbara, California – October 13, 2011

An RV crashed into a vehicle driven by a parking attendant Thursday afternoon injuring the attendant.

The Santa Barbara Police Department reports, a parking attendant was in her vehicle at the intersection of East Canon Perdido Street and State Street. She was writing a ticket for an RV about 12:50 p.m. when the driver smashed into the attendant’s vehicle. The impact forced the attendant’s vehicle into a parked delivery truck.

The woman was trapped inside her vehicle. She was cut free and transported to a hospital. She suffered serious injuries.

The driver of the RV attempted to drive from the scene, but the Santa Barbara Police stopped two suspects.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the number of fatalities along America’s roadways declined in 2010 for the fifth-straight year. The total number of highway deaths last year was 32,788, down 3 percent over 2009.
