Huntington Beach, California – October 12, 2011
A drunken driving collision in Huntington Beach early Tuesday morning injured five people and led to the arrest of one man.
According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, 28-year-old Costa Mesa resident Thomas W. Barrett drove a Dodge Durango south on Beach Boulevard. At Newman Avenue Mr. Barrett began to make a U-turn. About 1:25 a.m. 22-year-old Huntington Beach resident Forrest L. Kelly in a white Toyota Camry crashed into the Dodge.
Mr. Barrett and his three passengers were injured in the crash. Mr. Kelly was also injured. None of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening.
Mr. Kelly was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
According to the California Department of Motor Vehicles, 203,866 suspects were arrested on suspicion of DUI in 2007.
