Huntington Beach, California – October 7, 2011
Five people were injured an elderly woman was killed in a multiple-vehicle collision Friday afternoon on Adams Avenue.
According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, on Adams Avenue a blue 2005 Mercedes-Benz stalled. Behind the Mercedes-Benz a 2004 Jaguar, a 2002 Mercedes-Benz and a 2005 Toyota stopped. About 11:35 a.m. a 2006 Mitsubishi Endeavor crashed into the line of cars before Bushard Street.
Six people were injured in the crash. They were transported to University of California – Irvine Medical Center. Five people suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Costa Mesa 96-year-old Ruth Brown died in the hospital from her injuries.
The California Highway Patrol reports that highway accidents claimed the lives of 164 pedestrians in 2009 and 185 in 2008.
