Wildomar, California – August 14, 2011
A motorcycle and pickup collided Sunday afternoon in a DUI crash that fatally injured the motorcyclist.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, 30-year-old Jose Lujan of Vista drove a pickup truck in the intersection of Palomar Street and Clinton Keith Road. At the intersection the pickup crashed into a motorcycle about 3:15 p.m.
The motorcyclist was taken to Inland Valley Regional Medical Center for medical attention to serious injuries. He died in the hospital from the injuries he sustained.
Mr. Lujan was arrested and charged with gross vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence.
According to the California Department of Motor Vehicles, alcohol was a factor in 1,489 traffic fatalities and 203,866 suspects were arrested on suspicion of DUI in 2007.
