Kingsburg, California – June 22, 2011

A woman who was hit by a train Sunday night along Simpson Street has been identified.

According to the Kingsburg Police Department, Abbeylynn Diaz, 54, prior to the accident had been drinking. Witnesses said she looked like she was waiting for the train to come as she stood on the tracks near Sierra Street along Simpson Street.

The engineer of the train tried to stop and blew his horn to get Ms. Diaz off the tracks. Ms. Diaz was hit by the train about 8 p.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
