Anaheim, California — April 14, 2011
Police say a pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing an Anaheim street on Thursday evening.
The Anaheim Police Department reports that 32-year-old Anaheim resident Noemi Tejeda attempted to cross La Palma Avenue, near North East Street, around 11:15 p.m. As she reached the opposite curb, a Nissan sport-utility vehicle approached, striking Ms. Tejeda,
Paramedics were summoned to the scene. They transported Ms. Tejeda to the University of California Irvine Medical Center for treatment of mass trauma. Doctors pronounced her dead around 11:45 p.m.
Ms. Tejeda’s identity was unknown at first, but was later ascertained by the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
Investigators say the unidentified driver of the Nissan remained on scene and has not been cited or arrested.
