North Palm Springs, California — January 30, 2011
Police say two travelers were hospitalized Sunday after an apparent hit-and-run crash in North Palm Springs, south of Interstate 10.
The California Highway Patrol reports that 62-year-old Desert Hot Springs resident Thomas Coenen was driving south on North Indiana Canyon Drive, between Garnet Avenue and Palm Springs Station Road, around 6 p.m. when he was struck head-on by a silver 1993 Saturn headed north. The Saturn’s driver had veered into the lane of oncoming traffic and ran from the scene after the crash.
Mr. Coenen and his passenger, 59-year-old Bernitarae Patron, suffered injuries and were transported to Palm Springs’ Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment.
