Elk Grove, California — January 29, 2011
Police say a motorist was killed along California State Route 99 on Saturday when he was struck by a wrong-way driver near Elk Grove Market Place.
The California Highway Patrol reports that Sacramento resident David Wayne Plumb, 30 was traveling north on California State Route 99 near Laguna Boulevard in a Dodge minivan around 7:20 a.m. Elk Grove resident Amanullah Habib then entered the highway traveling south in the northbound lanes and struck Mr. Plumb’s van.
The force of the collision caused the van to overturn. Mr. Plumb was ejected, suffering fatal injuries. Five children were among his six passengers and all were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment of reportedly minor to moderate injuries.
Alcohol and drugs are not considered factors in the crash.
