Saratoga, California — January 3, 2011
Police say an elderly pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by a vehicle while crossing a Saratoga street.
The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department reports that the unidentified man, 83, attempted to cross near the intersection of Crestbrook Drive and Saratoga Avenue around 5:50 p.m. He was struck by a vehicle traveling south on Saratoga.
The man reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
It is unclear whether the driver remained on the scene and cooperated with police or if he fled, in an apparent hit-and-run.
The crash remains under investigation.
