Anaheim, California — November 6, 2010
Police say an impatient driver caused a three-vehicle crash in Anaheim Saturday afternoon that left a young girl with serious injuries.
According to eyewitness accounts, a black 2010 Ford Fusion was traveling west on West Ball Road shortly before noon when it failed to heed three consecutive red lights at Beach Boulevard, South Western Avenue and South Knott Avenue. The vehicle, driven by a man believed to be in his 20s, collided with a southbound Nissan Altima at South Knott Avenue, then an eastbound Toyota stopped in the left-turn lane at West Ball.
A 3-year-old girl was a passenger in the back seat of the Altima and was transported to University of California-Irvine Medical Center, where she was listed in serious condition. Two adult passengers of the Altima also sustained injuries, but the nature and extent of those injuries was not reported. The two adult passengers in the Toyota were hospitalized with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Police say the suspect driver sustained only minor injuries and was not hospitalized. After conducting an interview with the driver, police found no evidence of drugs and alcohol and no charges have yet been filed. The driver told investigators he was agitated with the traffic.
