Fremont, California — November 5, 2010

Police say an 83-year-old pedestrian died when he was struck by a car and killed in Fremont Friday, in an apparent hit-and-run accident.

The Fremont Police Department reports that the elderly victim, Oakland resident Salim Nosrat, was attempting to cross Fremont Boulevard and Norris Road in the Centerville area around 6:20 a.m. when he was hit. The driver fled the scene and police are currently searching for a light-colored 1995 Toyota Avalon.

Mr. Norsat was trasported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley for treatment of extensive head injuries and was later pronounced dead.
