Clairemont Mesa, California — November 4, 2010
Police say a 67-year-old woman was pinned between two vehicles in a strip mall parking in the Clairemont Mesa area of San Diego on Thursday night, leaving her seriously injured.
The San Diego Police Department reports that the driver of a Chrysler PT Cruiser, 65, lost control of her car in a parking lot at the intersection of Beagle Street and Ashford Street around 5:30 p.m. Officers report that the driver mistakenly applied the accelerator while the car was in reverse and pinned the pedestrian against a parked car.
The victim sustained internal injuries along with damage to her legs and pelvis and was transported to a nearby trauma center for treatment.
Investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
