Castro Valley, California — October 26, 2010
Police say Alyssa Fantozzi, 22, of San Ramon, is dead after two vehicles collided with a semi on Interstate 580 Tuesday afternoon.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash left Ms. Fantozzi’s car trapped underneath the semi, after crashing around 12:10 p.m. near the Center Street-Grove Way exit.
Ms. Fantozzi suffered serious injury and was pronounced dead at the scene. A second driver, also a woman, was transported to Eden Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
Police shut down traffic along I-580 for roughly 90 minutes. Vehicles were detoured at Grove Way.
