The victim in a fatal accident along U.S. Highway 101 south of Gilroy on Aug. 28 has been identified.
Manuel Palma, 65, of San Leandro, was killed shortly after midnight last Friday when the northbound semi he was driving reportedly made an unsafe lane change. The truck ran off Highway 101 on the right side and struck a guardrail, then slid back into the roadway, blocking traffic.
Northbound lanes remained closed to traffic for more than nine hours.
Mr. Palma’s identity was released by the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office on Tuesday.
