Crosses, Arkansas — April 1, 2012
University of Arkansas football head coach Bobby Petrino, 51, was involved in a motorcycle accident along Arkansas State Route 16 Sunday according to the Arkansas State Police. The accident happened approximately two miles from Crosses, and Mr. Petrino was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Mr. Petrino was riding his 2012 Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle just east of Crosses when he lost control and slid off the road, ending up in a dirt and wood pile. Mr. Petrino suffered neck and back injuries and received treatment at a local hospital. His passenger, Jessica Dorrell, 25, was uninjured.
According to the National Motor Vehicle Crash Causation Study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, driver error is responsible for more than 90 percent of serious traffic accidents.
